The clinician who wants to learn how to formulate a proper treatment plan has to understand that developing the necessary skills to plan a therapy that takes into account all patient-specific variables requires the acquisition of not only experience, but also of evidence-based information on the predictability of the different clinical procedures, and an understanding of their correct sequence. If you are unsure about the approach to have when facing a challenging clinical case, this course will provide you with a clear roadmap to treatment planning. After describing a systematic approach to treatment planning based upon the answers to 6 questions, the instructor will present several cases for an interactive group discussion.

Course objectives

AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE PARTECIPANTS WILL HAVE LEARNED
What documentation should be collected to formulate an appropriate treatment plan
On which basis to assign the tooth by tooth prognosis
The 6 steps for the formulation of a treatment plan that takes into account the relationship between esthetic improvement and appropriate function
When and how to mount the preliminary models of the patient on an articulator to effectively communicate to the dental technician the position in the space of the dental arches
When to mount model in centric relation and when in maximum intercuspation
When it is useful to make an esthetic mock-up and the types of mock-up that can be manufactured
When to change the vertical dimension and how the overbite-overjet relationship is modified in the various skeletal classes
When it is justifiable to replace missing teeth with implants vs with prosthetic solutions supported by teeth (such as, all ceramic adhesive bridges)

Taking the preliminary impressions in alginate
Using the facebow and registering the intermaxillary position for mounting the preliminary models on the articulator

DIGITAL WORKFLOW
Taking the preliminary impressions with an intraoral scanner: key points to obtain precise scanning
Mounting the models in the virtual articulator

• The examination of the patient: dental history and its value

• Data collection: medical records, radiographs, preliminary impressions, facebow and intermaxillary registration

• Periodontal assessment and structural analysis of the abutments

• The importance of a detailed esthetic evaluation and of the functional analysis

The fee covers all lunches and coffee breaks for the three days and a group dinner on Friday evening. Hotel accommodation and the other dinners are not covered.
