Dopo la Brown University, Stephen J. Chu ha conseguito la laurea in odontoiatria (DMD) alla University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine nel 1984. Tra 1984 e 1986 frequenta la University of Washington School of Dentistry dove consegue il Master of Science in Restorative Dentistry (MSD) completando l’Advanced Education Program in Prosthodontic e specializzandosi in Protesi. Nel 1998, ottiene il Certificato di Master in Dental Technology (MDT) al NYU College of Dentistry.
È membro di numerose associazioni professionali: American Dental Association, Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics, American College of Prosthodontics, Northeastern Gnatological Society, Academy of Osseointegration. È vice-presidente della American academy of Esthetic Dentistry ed è stato presidente di The Society for Color and Appearance in Dentistry (SCAD) nel biennio 2013-2014.
È l’ex direttore del Continuing Education Program in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry presso il NYUCD. Stephen J. Chu è un ex professore clinico aggiunto presso il New York University College of Dentistry nei dipartimenti di parodontologia, implantologia e protesi dentaria, dove ha lavorato per 26 anni. Il dott.
